Gannet Morus bassanus
Robert regularly lectures to photographic societies and natural history groups both in Ireland and the UK. His knowledge and photographic style are familiar to many through his writing and book publications.
Although he describes himself as a general natural history photographer, he has a particular passion for macro photography, especially insects and flowers. He has also spent a large part of his photographic career documenting his own native flora and fauna, along with many other natural history subjects in Ireland and in parts of Europe and the Mediterranean.
As a natural history photographer his work is wide ranging and diverse. He spent 3 years capturing Ireland’s unique and varied landscapes from the air and spent several months working below ground in challenging conditions photographing cave systems, some of which have not been photographed before.
As an active conservationist he is passionate about his work and the subjects he photographs and has many interesting anecdotes to share with his audience.
