Finally, the long-awaited replacement for the Nikon D810 has arrived after months of debate and speculation. I think everyone knew that this year being Nikon’s 100-year anniversary that something exceptional was in the pipeline. While the D810 fulfilled many of the expectations of professionals and serious amateurs it could not compete with the D5 regarding speed and ISO performance. There was still a vacancy for ultimate DSLR.

Nikon did throw us a bone back in July that the D850 was currently in development. Now that the camera has officially arrived it has caused great excitement among the photography fraternity. Having had this camera early, I have to say that it pushes the DSLR boundaries yet again setting the bar to unprecedented levels in a 35mm format camera. Such is the demand for this camera that I fear it may be continually out of stock for some time to come.
Here are a few images from my early testing of the camera in the field. I will be doing something more detailed at a later date. The D850, in my opinion, is the ultimate blend of resolution speed and performance. No other DSLR currently can deliver on this level.
