ROYAL PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

The Royal Photographic Societies Nature Group was founded in 1976 under the chairmanship of Heather Angel FRPS. The aims and objectives of the group were to bring together photographers with an interest in natural history photography irrespective of their experience or ability.

The Nature Group is one of the largest and most active group within the RPS. The IRIS magazine is published by the Nature Group of the RPS three times a year. It is sent free to those photographers that are members. The membership is largely from the UK, but it also includes photographers from all over the world. Many well-known professional photographers, natural history authors and lecturers are also part of the group.

The nature group welcomes everyone with an interest in natural history. You do not need to be an expert just have a genuine interest and respect for nature and the creature we share this planet with.

The Group are extremely friendly, with members always willing to share their knowledge of both Natural History and Photography with others who are keen to learn. Many have joined with little photographic experience and have gone on to obtain one of the RPS  Distinctions, with some working their way through to a Fellowship.
